The Collection campaign is well under way! We have about 4 weeks until the end of the school year in St Louis and we have been working closely with partner schools – Bellerive Elementary, Green Trails Elementary, River Bend Elementary and Shenandoah Valley Elementary. Principals, teachers, Student Leaders and PTOs have been involved in the development of this collection at each school.
We will collect all the following gently used items:
Backpacks, lunch bags and water bottles
Hard or soft pencil case or stationery supply box
Pencils, crayons, markers
Erasers, glue sticks and bottles of glue
Gently used reading books
Gently used spiral bound notebooks
Gently used sports equipment such as soccer balls
Teacher supplies for classrooms, including chalk for chalkboards, chalkboard erasers, pens, posters, world maps, geometry sets, etc
Donations of new items will also be gratefully accepted, as will cash donations towards the purchase of needed items.
Boxes and materials will be delivered to each school within the next 10 days to begin the collection. The donations will be collected from schools soon after the last day of school.
International Donations: Those items heading to Zambia are planned to be shipped in June in order to arrive in time for the beginning of the second half of the school year there. An exciting new development: we are currently under discussion to expand the international donations to an underprivileged school in Mexico. More information on this will be posted as we finalize this partnership!
We also continue our discussions with other St Louis school districts to determine a way to partner as we head into the 2017-2018 school year.
We will be needing volunteers to assist with counting, packing and boxing up items for shipment or storage. If interested in donating items, or volunteering, please contact Helen or Cris.
