Born and raised in South Africa, Helen moved to the US in 2005. Helen has always had an interest in people, diversity and helping others. She has worked in the Corporate world in Human Resources for her whole career and has spent the last 20 plus years working for agriculture companies.
Helen studied at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa where she obtained a B.A in Applied Psychology and Industrial Sociology and further studied to obtain a B.A (Hons) in Industrial Psychology.
Through the work with 10 000 Pencils, Helen's vision is that one small action can create a big reaction – pencils and paper can be the spark to ignite a passion for life-long learning and discovery. The hope is that one day in the future there will be children who were given an opportunity to get an education through the work of this small team of volunteers and dedicated partners.
